Buchan Caves
Buchan Caves Reserve on Krauatungalung Country, is
significant to Gunaikurnai Traditional Owners due to its remarkable Aboriginal cultural heritage.

Bluff Reserve
The Bluff, also know by locals as Bum Rock, is a favorite swimming hole for locals and tourists alike. Swim in the fresh, cool waters of the iconic Buchan River.
W Tree Waterfalls
The W Tree waterfalls are magnificent, especially when in flood. They are easily accessible and located off the edge of the road as you head north from Buchan towards Gelantipy.
Rocky Knob
Rocky Knob or Devils Knob is an amazing natural structure and well worth having a look. It's short drive from the township of Buchan.
The short walk to the Knob from the carpark is via a gravel path. Good footwear is required if you want to do some climbing.
Balley Hooley
Balley Hooley is fondly known as The Junction to locals. This is
where the Buchan River meets the mighty Snowy River. It is a great place for a short walks, picnics, BBQs and a swim.
Basin Creek Falls
Basin Creek Falls are a spectacular sight. The walk into the falls is around 30 minutes, but allow yourself longer to soak up the view.
The walk in is relatively steep, so sturdy footwear is recommended
as you will be on a narrow path, climbing over rocks.
Suggan Buggan
Suggan Buggan (pronounced Soogn Boogn) is a ghost town in the remote wilderness of northeastern Gippsland and well worth the drive. It is a 160km (3 hour) return trip so pack a picnic lunch.
At Suggan Buggan there is a schoolhouse built in 1865 by Edward O'Rourke, an early holder of the Suggan-Buggan run.
The slab and shingle single room schoolhouse was built for the education of Edward's 11 children.
Seldom Seen Lookout
Seldom Seen Lookout is a great day out. This lookout provides 360 degree panoramic views of the amazing remote wilderness of Far East Gippsland. This is a 120 km, 2 hour return trip. The roads are narrow and windy. Sections of it are dirt and rugged, requiring AWD/4WD access.
Little River Falls
The Little River Falls can be observed by parking in the parking area and walking back over the bridge. There is a walking track off to the side of the bridge. It is a relatively easy walking track with some areas of uneven terrain.
You can also walk down to the base of the falls but it is not for the faint hearted. It is steep and requires good footwear along with a good level of fitness.
Little River Gorge
This is a short but steep walk bringing you to the aerial view of this not-so-little river which has sculpted its way through the volcanic rock, forming the breathtaking Little River Gorge. At 600 metres, it is Victoria’s deepest gorge. The walking track is 800 metres return. It is a relative easy walking track with some areas of uneven terrain.
McKillops Bridge
A visit to McKillops Bridge can be incorporated into your trip to the Little River Falls and Gorge.
Located in the Snowy River National Park, the iconic McKillops Bridge is one of the most spectacular bridges in the world. It was a significant engineering feat at the time of being built.
The road spans the Snowy River and was built by the Country Roads Board between 1931-36. The deck is 255 metres long and stands high above the river. Downstream are the remains of the original McKillop Bridge washed away in 1934, a day before it was due to be opened. It is hard to imagine, but when the Snowy River floods it does lap the bottom of the bridge.

Buchan Caves Hotel
The original Buchan pub is believed to have been built in the 1850's and has been an iconic part of the Buchan community for many years.
The pub was lost to fire on 8 April 2014 and the rebuild of the current pub was via crowdfunding. An amazing effort!
